Child Play Therapy
Children will sometimes suffer from anxiety and/or excessive worrying, as well as irritability and low mood issues. Usually, it is a sign of deeper feelings not being understood or expressed. By developing a trusting relationship with a therapist, play therapy and cognitive therapy worries can be quelled and moods improved.
Parents are also important in the treatment. Having regular sessions and meetings to support their parenting skills are often necessary. Sometimes there is a need to bring in other professionals to help with a particular issue, so assessment and referral is included when appropriate.
The proverb “it takes a village” is key for helping children work through the developmental challenges of growing into mature, responsible adults. Parents also need ongoing support when a child is struggling.
